Front Pages of the World

My favorite nespaper front page is the one for Albany, New Yorks's Times Union. This is because it has many differnt stories and there will be at least one that would appeal to someone. My favorite headline from the newspaper is "Their generous hearts helping others" because it appeals to my emotions. Especially with a baby being the picture, it makes me want to read more about what was happening in the picture. On the front page there are six different stories. After seeing all of the front pages for the various newspapers I looked at, I noticed that they all have huge text in bold letters for the headline in the top center of the page, usually paired with a large picture, to grab people's attention. Differences I saw between some of the front pages are the amount of stories and also the main stories. For example, in Austin's front page the biggest headline is about Karolyi Ranch and how many gymnasts were abused there and how it is to be investigated. Whereas in

Self-portrait vs Selfie & Shutterbug

Image
PART 1- A selfie is a picture that is taken of someone by that same "someone", or with nobody's help. A self-portrait is a portrait that the artist makes of themselves, typically a painting or if it's a photograph then it's well thought-out and planned. The difference between the two is that selfies are easily disposable and not much though/planning is usually put into them. Self-portraits, however, have a lot of effort put into them. Selfies are quick snapshots of what's happening in that specific moment, whereas self-portraits generally portray how a person sees themselves or how they are represented. Also, self-portraits are only of yourself, but selfies can involve you and one or two more people in the photo. Another difference is that self-portraits are usually serious, whereas selfies can be goofy or fun as well as serious. Although I don't take that many selfies, I prefer selfies over self-portraits. I like taking selfies when I'm with my f

https://blog.phowd.com/2014/09/7-tips-shooting-great-portrait-photographs/ This website gives seven tips to shoot a great portrait, and also has plenty of example pictures for the tips they are talking about. The main thing this article seemed to keep in mind is the fact that photographers should let loose and not always follow the rules of photography, and to not be afraid of making your picture look different from the stereotypical portraits because those are the photos that stand out to people. 1. I chose this photo because I love babies and I also love how this picture was taken. The photographer did a really great job at taking the picture when the baby was still, which can be very difficult. And I really like kind of neutral colors with a pop of bright blue eyes. 2. The main rule of photography I see in this photo is simplicity. The photo is just the baby in a sweater(?), there's no distracting background, or depth of field. Also, the baby is looking off camera, which

Phobias Project

1.) A phobia is  an extreme or irrational fear of something. 2.) 5 phobias listed on list of phobias Aviophobia: Fear of flying Astrapophobia- Fear of thunder and lightning Gerascophobia- Fear of growing old Spacephobia- Fear of outer space Scolionophobia- Fear of school 3.) The three phobias I will be capturing are  Enochlophobia (A),  Glossophobia (B), and  Coccinellidaephobia (C). I am actually afraid of A and C. A)  Enochlophobia is the fear of crowds. For the shoot, I plan on having a group of my friends and family and having one of them show that they are afraid. I will have the group standing in a tight cluster, surrounding the person with Enochlophobia in the middle. The person in the middle will be slightly crouched down with her head ducked down and her hands resting on her head. This will make it look like she is cowering away, as if to protect herself from the crowd, which she is afraid of. When taking the photo, I will make sure to focus in on the girl in t

Winter break

1. One thing that happened over winter break that I will always remember was singing on my little cousin's play microphone stand. We also used it to call people out and roast each other, it was great. 2. For 2018, my resolution is to not procrastinate. 3. In 2018 I am looking forward to going to a Harry Styles concert in Dallas in June!

Best of 2017

Image
Best Song Sign Of The Times-Harry Styles I chose Sign of the Times by Harry Styles for best song because it was such a big hit. The song was his solo debut, and an amazing one at that. It's the best song because it's nothing like anything else in the charts today. It is a throwback to British 90's Rock, like music from Bowie and Prince. His vocals are breath-taking and the fact that it is a one of a kind, it shook the music industry. It was automatically number one on any music chart you could think of. Yes, part of this is because of his huge fanbase, but many people who aren't a fan have admitted that it was a strong song. Many fellow musicians congratulate Styles like his band mates, Chris Martin (Coldplay) and even the wonderful Stevie Nicks. Therefore, it is the best song of 2017. Best Movie Dunkirk-Christopher Nolan I chose Dunkirk, a film by Christopher Nolan, for the best movie of the year because it was incredibly moving. Nolan did an amazing job ca

Looking back on 2017

Image
1) This is one of my favorites because the point of makes it seem like they are just normal trees, and it's not until you notice the car on the road that you realize the trees are uprooted. This picture does an amazing job at making you second guess yourself on what you see. 2) This is another favorite of mine because it captures a solitary leaf floating to the ground, and the low point of view gives the picture more depth. Also, the color of the leaf and tops of trees against the blue sky is a nice contrast. 3) I really love this picture and it is probably my favorite because it shows a society's love for one another by capturing a rose on a chair in a church that had a shooting in a week prior. The church community along with fellow citizens worked hard to restore the damaged church. The church-goers gathered inside for the first time since the shooting.
