In my opinion, I agree with those who believe that professional athletes are overpaid. The main purpose of any sport is to entertain people, whereas the main purpose of public service workers is to provide people with all of the education needed and ways of life to help guide you. 1. One idea the article gave me that I can use to decide on a topic is to make sure I feel very strongly about the subject. It doesn't matter if it's something big or small, as long as you have very strong opinions about it. 2. An idea from the article I should keep in mind while writing the piece is to write kind of like I'm talking, loose and comfortable. Also I should make sure to include many details to ensure that the readers can relate to my story. 3. One idea that I will keep in mind is the many different types of hooks. You can hook the audience with a question, metaphor, a quote, and more.

An earthquake rocked the San Francisco Bay area Monday morning. The quake struck at 8:12 a.m. PDT "The epicenter of the earthquake, which had a magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter scale, was under the Hayward Hills," according to Penny Gertz, a scientist from the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park. Gertz called the quake a “strong one” and said it occurred on the Hayward Fault, which runs under the hills. "People as far south as Los Angeles and as far north as Redding felt the quake," Gertz said.
