"This cover story by Michael Pollen argues that while we have been obsessed with eradicating germs, there are health advantages to being exposed to them. The cover shot by Hannah Whitaker of a baby being licked by a dog makes graphic the prevalence of germs in our everyday lives."

Critique:
I really love this cover because it's just so cute! This cover does an amazing job, obviously, pulling people in. No one can resist babies and no one can resist dogs, but the two of them together, absolutely adorable. The lighting is really great, no dark or light spots. Also the array of colors is eye-catching, as is the different textures; skin, fur, and grass. I think one really smart thing about this cover is what it's actually about. The picture of the dog licking the baby on the face draws you in, and then you read the title and become concerned for your or someone else's hygiene when it comes to dogs and/or other things. Overall, I think is one amazing magazine cover.
